The Eleventh House covers the wider group: friendships, alliances, communities, audiences, and hopes that need more than one person.
The Eleventh House connects a person with communities, alliances, audiences, shared causes, and hopes that require more than individual effort.
The Eleventh House in astrology
Planets placed in the 11th house draw attention to friends, groups, future aims. The sign on its cusp describes how those Eleventh House topics are approached, while the condition of that sign's ruling planet adds context elsewhere in the chart.
What the 11th house covers
- Friends
- Groups
- Future aims
- Naturally associated with Aquarius and Saturn, which is where its default flavour comes from
The Eleventh House axis
Read friends, groups, future aims in dialogue with the Fifth House. The Eleventh House and Fifth House form one axis, so an interpretation should explain how their concerns balance rather than treating either house as an isolated compartment.
What if the Eleventh House is empty?
An empty Eleventh House is completely normal. With twelve houses and about ten commonly used bodies, most charts leave several houses unoccupied. Friends, groups, future aims still appear in life; the empty house simply directs attention to its cusp sign and ruling planet.
When the 11th house is empty, read it in this order:
- The sign on the cusp - this still sets the style. (A cusp is simply a boundary.)
- That sign's ruling planet, wherever it sits - that placement carries the topic.
- Any current transits crossing the house.
Which sign sits on your 11th house?
The cusp controlling friends, groups, future aims depends on birth time and place, not only the birthday. Start with the rising sign, which establishes the full sequence of houses.
Read the Eleventh House in context
Use this four-question framework when a planet, transit or sign activates the Eleventh House. It keeps claims about friends, groups, future aims tied to a recorded chart factor and a real example.

Start with the topic
The 11th house is about friends, groups, future aims. Name that before adding any planet.
- 2
- 3
Read it against the Fifth House
Balance Eleventh House concerns with the Fifth House; neither side explains the full axis alone.
- 4
Check it against your week
Look for friends in what actually happened, not in what the chart says should have.
| Check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Cusp sign | Describes the style at the entrance to the house |
| Ruling planet | Links the house topic to another sign and house |
| Natal planets | Show functions that repeatedly engage this area |
| Opposite house | Fifth House supplies the balancing perspective |
